It does sound promising but then so have many other things in the past! Let's hope that they have got it right this time as this energy crisis seems to be worsening.

Let's face it there is a limit to the number of hampsters that absic can breed!

There are no limits to the amount of hamsters (or even hampsters) I can breed and it is in fact very easy.

Start with two (one of each sex), give them a nice meal and some wine, turn the lights out then wait for a couple of weeks. Suddenly you find there are lots of hamsters!  ;D
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Forget the Uranium 238, you are better of with this stuff; "Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator" from 'Marvin the Martian' it was only the size of a stick of dynamite but pretty powerful, now if you could harness this, not only could you control your own computer but everyone else's, just charge a small fee.

I'm surprised you didn't go for the AX1200 or the HX 1050 Allan especially with your X79 build pending.

To my way of thinking you can never have too much power even if you are not actually using the full quota. A large quality PSU is a great foundation for any build, but not only that it should last for a good few years also.

Hi,

Yes, I'm thinking about buying another soon and have my existing one as a backup. I read about the HX1050 from a TweakTown review, and decided until I saw this:

Quote
While the DC output quality wasn't the best we have seen from Corsair, it certainly is good enough for almost any enthusiast grade system.

The review is here:

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4195/corsair_hx1050_1050_watt_power_supply_review/index5.html

For that money I want it to be the best so comments would be appreciated.

Well if you want even better quality, staying with Corsair try looking at the AX1200 Gold series.

Antec have a Gold series the HCP1200 which is actually better on most aspects than the Corsair version.

Seasonic do a very nice one that is Platinum rated and of extremely good quality but obviously doesn't come cheap.

" If I went off a single review to buy all my kit......I would be a hermit living in the woods"

Any information we pull off the net...... is only as good as the people that post them! .....once I make my mind up on a specific product ......I then will hunt down several reviews to give me the accurate average I want ...... then hit applicable forums to gauge actual peoples views that are using them

Corsair..... although they have not published anything to point me in this direction ...... have made it there mission to get to the top in a very big market ...... Any PSU that can hold 0.5% on the 12V rail to 1000W is Legend!

Beside targeting a single 12V rail design.......It's the components inside that will tell the Tail ..... high quality components used in construction will insure superior performance and life,  like using ........

A special colour code is used for the fourth band tolerance:
silver ±10%,   gold ±5%,   red ±2%,   brown ±1%.
If no fourth band is shown the tolerance is ±20%.

It's not necessary to have red or brown forth bands everywhere......just where it's critical to get high tolerance parameters ......Corsair are the exception with a very high count of high tolerance components onboard ....not just resistors ....Hence the long warranted guarantees.

I would have to agree there. I haven't come across anything recently with Corsair branding that isn't of very high quality. If they put their name on it you can rest assured that it is a well made and specced bit of kit. They do seem to be slowly bringing out more and more components so soon hopefully you should be able to buy anything you want with the Corsair brand on it.

@Aussie Allan,

You would give the Corsair HX 1050 a thumbs up then?

I have read the other reviews by the way, it was just that piece that stood out, but thanks for the advice.

Yes, I like corsair that's why I brought one of there PSU's, just been on the Corsair forum a few people have experienced noises from the HX 1050 and had to RMA it, but you only here the about the those posts not the good ones it would seem.

Hi All,

Continuing with this theme I recently purchased a Seasonic Platinum 1000w PSU for a new build and would highly recommend it as the build quality is second to none. There is a few reviews here:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Seasonic/P1000/

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1336/pg1/seasonic-platinum-series-1000w-power-supply-review-introduction.html

3 reviews.....not forgeting the rule of course.
