Hi there,

Sadly, my understanding is that the ga-790xta-ud4 will not be AM3+ processor capabable.

Hi again,

the problem with some of the motherboards is the size of the BIOS chip which do not have enough space for the necessary code to allow the AM3+ processors to run. You could contact Gigabyte in France and see if they can write a special BIOS for you, if you want to run one of the new CPU's but to do this, they will have to remove support for other CPU's and possibly some of the other features in the BIOS.

You can contact Gigabyte France here: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/tech.asp?ClassID=2&Country=France&SourceWeb=B2C

Hi,

Thanks.
I contacted Gigabyte France : no place for AM3+ processors  Sad even if they remove support for other CPU's.
Do you think that is useful to upgrade for F4A ? or w8 F4 ?   i have F3 bios

Hi again,

I thought that may be the case and it's a shame that this board won't be able to support the AM3+ processors.

The best advice is, if everything is working OK you don't really need to update the BIOS. That said, my son is running this motherboard with the F4A Beta BIOS and it is fine and seeing the date of the last update I doubt if this BIOS will be updated any further.
