GA-H55M-S2 Rev 1.3 BIOS F4 SILENT INTEL i3 540
« on: November 02, 2011, 08:35:22 pm »
Hi everybody

I have an H55 MB that is silent from all audio sources, the front and rear connections, the case speaker and both DVD readers. The BIOS is the latest F4 and has been reset to defaults and in Win-7 (32bit) i have restored to a previos time but no change. I think the MB is toast, should I try a soundcard??

Hi,

There are several things I would advise trying before totally giving up.

Have you enabled the Azalia Codec in the BIOS ?

Is there  any exclamation mark besides the audio entry in Device Manager ?

Check that everything seems to point the right way in the Contrl Panel Sound and HD Adio Manager icons.

Make sure that you have power to the speakers or amplifier, depending on how you have it setup.

Make sure that you haven't got "Mute" enabled anywhere!

Check the cabling between the system box and the speakers.

Ok, well fingers crossed then. I will be interested to see if the problem is cleared when you get the board back. I have a feeling that it won't be but maybe I'm wrong. :-\
