Hello folks,

I just faced a really common problem as I can see. I just purchased a motherboard from Overclockers.co.uk, however there are 2 bent pins on the motherboard. I just got the motherboard, we removed the protective cap and me and my friend saw the bent pins(we both have degrees in Computer Systems and Hardware). I talked to the guys from Overclockers, but they told me that they can't do anything about it and my only option is to fix them by hand. I send an email returns@gbt-tech.co.uk to ask them about my options. I just wanna ask if Gigabyte can replace/repair my motherboard at my expenses?

Kind Regards

Hi and welcome.

If it was me in that situation I would get straight onto the Consumer office (Trading Standards or Office of Fair Trading) and have a word with them about it. If you have only just purchased it and that is how it was delivered then why should you have to carry the can for it ? Please let us know how you get on.  Wink

By the way are you here in the UK or BG ?

Might do, but I wanna use it as soon as possible. So is it possible the socket to be replaced? I just wanna get over with it, really. But I will think about what you suggested, seems fair. Sad

The only thing is it might take a while anyway as I know they are very busy at the moment in the RMA department.

I can't say that for sure, no. It is possible that Gigabyte might decide to repair the bent pins but they would want to see the damage first and then make a decision. You will have to apply to them and they will probably ask for some macro photos firstly. Undecided

That's ok. The damage is not that much really. it is 2 Pins. 1 of them is easily fixable as far as I can see. The other seems to be more damaged. However, I don't wanna try to fix them cause I might make it worse.  How can I open a case or something? I just sent an email to Gigabyte about that problem and I am waiting for a reply.

Well, I am living and studying in UK, but originally I am from BG.

Thanks for the help!

Well that's about as much as you can do for now until they reply I'm afraid. Probably take a few days or so but I know they are busy after Christmas. Good luck.

Thank you very much! Will wait for their reply, however as I can see I will need to make some pictures of the pins as well?

Yes, most likely. They will require some Macro images with good clear lighting but not flash. Might be a good idea to prepare them so you are ready when they ask. Wink

Oh that is good news. Considering how much work must have been backlogged with Christmas etc I think Gigabyte certainly need applauding for having it done and back to you so fast too.  Grin

Enjoy using your newly repaired motherboard.  Wink
