Why the RAM slots are perpendicular to the video card slots ?

I Dont understand why the motherboards manufacturers insist to make the mobos with the memory RAM slots perpendicular to the video card slots , I think the airflow can cool better both components the RAM and the video cards if the RAM slots and the video cards slots are parallel instead of perpendicular , now I have very few choises about mobos , there is only a few mobos with the RAM slots and the video cards slots parallel , I am very sad about this problem  :'(

This is a Intel mohterboard!!! not a Gigabyte.   ???
A lot of our motherboards have a different layout.

Yes ,  I think all the gigabite mobos unfortunately have the RAM slots perpendicular to the PCI slots  :(

It depends, as if you have a top fan, then the RAM will be cooled perfectly as it is closer to the top fan which is generally more powerful (I have a antec 1200 with a 20cm top fan). As far as cooling is concerned, RAM doesn't need that great airflow and you can always put another fan and manually put it over the ram to create airflow.

I bet the difference in temperatures from this problem is very minimal, and I haven't ever seen someone with a problem of heat due to the RAM being perpendicular :S

Every forum I've seen you on, you post this  ::)

It makes no difference at all really, if you think about it, what difference does it make if your RAM is 1c hotter anyway?

Tad bit silly, doesn't really make any difference whatsoever. PCI-E slots are horizontal because they have to be, the ram slots don't.
If I had a hammer.. I'd hammer in morning.

Reminds me of being horizontaltly parked in a parallel world

Yes ,  I think all the gigabite mobos unfortunately have the RAM slots perpendicular to the PCI slots  :(

In that case, then turn the motherboard so that the memory slots are perpendicular ;D

. PCI-E slots are horizontal because they have to be, the ram slots don't.

I think you have not much idea about what you are talking about , the PCIe can be vertical

Why is BTX put forward since ATX is so popular now?

Answer: the reason for BTX release is just for heat elimination. The air passage of ATX is just like an "S"
written reversely, namely from the hard disk to chip set, CPU and the fan of power supply, and this way of heat
elimination is not effective. BTX adopts an enclosed air passage in a straight line, and the CPU, chip set, video
card and memory are all parallel in this air passage, thus the heat elimination becomes more effective. In the future,
the BTX will become more advantageous along with the promoted power consumption of CPU

Sad really
In my new case ,BTX compliant,
my power on button is now at the top of the case, instead of half way down!!!

Hi,
In my new case ,BTX compliant, case,
The psu is in a seperate bottom duct, and expels through the rear, the inlet for the psu fan is via base inlet,
my cpu fan, akasa 965, are extracted through the top case fan 120mm,
the memory, gfx card, and northbridge 60mm fan, are all fed by 2 x 120mm case side fans, and extracted with a rear 120mm fan,
the hard drives are cooled via a front mounted 120mm fan assisted inlet,
all fans are temprature controlled with a homemade fanbus with temp sensors, with thanks to spodes abode website posted elsewhere in these boards,
And you know what! it hasn't made any temp difference to my case or components whatsoever over an ATX case prevoiusly used !!!
But it looks different and sounds like a farrari F1, but i'm tone deaf anyway,
Which as a consumer is your choice,
My PC is stable, But I don't know about ME, hehe
cheers
