new ETRON USB 3.0 drivers
« on: February 13, 2012, 07:39:34 pm »
I saw the latest Etron USB 3.0 drivers at  http://www.station-drivers.com/page/etron.htm  a few days ago and have been running them since ,they appear stable ,no issues so far ,and I have several usb3 devices on the go .
the newest version is at the top  v 109 , it will probably be a while before they appear on the gigabyte site .so if anyone is interested etc. ???

So are these usb 3.0 drivers for all gigabyte usb 3 motherboards or are their special criteria you must meet.  I just dont want alot of forum users coming in here and downloading drivers they may not need with out further clarification.

I had checked out that they are for the EJ168 chip , the same as previous drivers by gigabyte .
as I said above ,I have been using the driver a couple of days and they are stable so far . nothing in this world is guaranteed to work for everyone though ,and the elemant of risk exists in everything we do .
just like beta bios ,"at your own risk" .but I know from past experience that Gigabyte are usually a fair way behind station drivers when publishing new drivers ,probably as they want to test them thouroughly .

Just searching the forums i came across a post by Darkmantis so to QUOTE him  "There are obviously  a few posts on the forum here complaining of USB3 issues as you would expect but no more than would be normal for any other component. Also it is still in it's infancy and so some problems are going to need to be ironed out along the way. The only thing that I can say I have noticed with this chip is that it is very fussy when it comes to updates and you MUST remove all traces of the previous drivers before updating them. We usually advise using something like Driver Sweeper to do this."  END QUOTE

I dont know if i have that chip on my board or not but as i am not having any problems right now i know when to leave well enough alone.. But thank you for the heads up might help some that are having problems.

That's funny because on the Etron web-site the latest driver is still v105.

The Etron website would be the last place I would look ,they were still only offering v1.3 drivers 2 months after the v1.5 drivers were available on station drivers . I got those drivers ,and a few months later the exact same drivers were available on the Gigabyte website .
I only posted the link and information ,because I knew that some members had been experiencing problems with USB 3.0.
THE OLD ADDAGE "IF IT AINT BROKE , DONT FIX IT" springs to mind ,but some who are having problems may want to at least try this option .the drivers are still working fine for me , using external USB 3 drives ,pendrives and card readers etc ,without problems .

I have been there so i agree. When you are having problems you are glad for the chance to at least try something. Sometimes i try 5 things before one works so thanks for the heads up.

yes I had noticed the new drivers ,and have them up and running on a test OS . version Version 1.00.0000.0110 for all OSs from xp through to win7 ,both 32 and 64bit are included.

the third-party USB 3.0 controller market is still dominated by Etron Technology, the EJ168 main controller because of its value for money, market share is also quite good. This is the latest driver for the controller, and has passed Microsoft WHQL certification, for motherboards using the Etron USB 3.0 controller.
