G1.Sniper 2 - Faulty Temp Sensor?

I've recently built a new PC using a G1 Sniper 2 and decided to check the internal temperatures using EasyTune 6.

So I was somewhat surprised to see the following:

CPU            26 Celsius
System 1    30 Celsius
System 2    100 Celsius
System 3    28 Celsius
System 4    31 Celsius

Since my motherboard hasn't burst into flames, there's no smell of hot circuitry and my PC is running completely stable I am assuming that the System 2 sensor is faulty (assuming its the one right next to the CPU). Can anybody tell me if this is due to a software/bios bug or is that particular sensor just irredeemably buggered?

Hi and welcome.

I don't have the particular motherbnoard, or access to it so I am not sure but I have a feeling that one of the temperature sensors listed isn't really there. If that is correct that would account for the full reading. Personally I don't use EasyTune  or any of these bundled software programs as I don't find them efficient or accurate. I would suggeat however if you want to use it that you make sure that both your BIOS and the program are the latest versions.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm now more confused than ever.

Turned the PC on this morning and the System 2 temperature sensor reading in both the bios and in EasyTune 6 now reports  a stable temperature of 37 Celsius. I haven't touched or changed anything, save for turning it off overnight.

Anyone have an idea what is going on?

Okay, looks like I've located the problem. It appears to be a software bug in EasyTune6 which registers the Temp Sensor at 100 Celsius after the PC wakes up from Sleep mode. Immediately rebooting and entering the bios reveals that the sensor temperature is actually within normal parameters.

Thanks to Dark Mantis for his reply, which proved to be more apt than I initially thought. I hope my discovery will lay to rest the worries of anyone else suffering the same unusual readings.

Glad to hear that you have managed to track the problem down in the end. More problems are linked with sleep/awakening than enough. Is there a patch or update that you can download to fix this ?

Nice to see you found the issue!

If you want to try and correct it, be sure you are using the latest BIOS, and be sure you download and install the latest Easytune (You'll need to uninstall old version before installing)

BIOS (Please update via Qflash or DOS, then load optimized, save/apply/reboot BACK to BIOS, then set SATA settings again and any other changes you need before booting to windows)

If all that does not help, then it could either be a BIOS bug or Easytune bug, and you'll have to report it to the tech team and ask them to forward to the BIOS engineers to look into fixing it.  If you don't report it they might never know, so if it concerns you please send in a report, thanks!
