hi everyone! new to the forum here. Smiley

i bought my x58 mobo about 2 years already...working great...now i recently bought a corsair ssd 180gb ssd sata 3. i've read around the web that people say its best to set it as ahci. so i did but now i notice there are two options.

this is the top of the bios page...i set it to ahci

but then i notice on the bottom where my hdd is plugged into the 6th port. it says IDE. do i need to set that as AHCI too?

any help will be great!

You should connect your SSD to the first Intel port (SATAII_0)  The Marvell ports SATAIII_6/7 are unstable, and have slow 4K speeds which are what really matter.  The Intel ports are faster overall, more stable, and offer way faster 4K speeds

However, if you are set on trying the Marvell ports, yes you need to set the bottom ones to AHCI (Top settings are for the Intel)
