GA-Z77-D3H freezes suddenly every day
« on: May 03, 2012, 01:13:25 pm »
Hello

Have configuration:
GA-Z77-D3H (bios F12, 26 april)
G.Skill F3-1600C9D-8GAB
i7-3770K
Radeon GV-R777D5-1GD (driver 12.4, bios F3)
Seasonic 500w
Windows 7 x64, all latest drivers from gigabyte site
Тemperature: CPU < 55C, VideoCard < 60C, Z77 - 25C

Once a day, maybe a bowl PC freezes and then itself power off.
No blue screen, in windows jornal no problem.

Try to do:
1. Memtest 3 hours - OK
2. in windows Hibernate, Screen Off, USB off, HDD off - disabled
3. Turbo Boost - disabled in bios
4. PCI-E set to 2.0
5. Set memory to lower timing & normal operation mode

Nothing helps,
Please help

Hi and welcome.

The only thing that immediately stands out is the PSU. It is a good and a well respected make but might be a little on the underpowered side. Apart from that everything looks fine. Are the temperatures that you posted when under load ?

Maybe it would be worth stripping everything down and doing a rebuild outside of the case.

Make sure that you observe anti-static precautions.

Lay some cardboard or use the motherboard box that is non-conductive on the worktop and remove the motherboard/CPU/heatsink/fan/buzzer/one stick of memory/graphics card and PSU from the case and put it on the cardboard. Add the keyboard and mouse and try and boot. The system should try and make a beep or series of beeps. Please post what sounds it makes.

PSU worked fine in the previous system.
Power consumption at the same level, as was in old PC.
That is, it checked.

Temperatures inside PC case below (Turbo Boost disabled as I wrote), so it not needed to rebuild outside of the case.

I was having a similar problem with the Z77 UD5h,  would freeze in windows and sometimes power off the computer.
Couldn't figure out what was causing it.

Maybe USB. I have mouse Razer Abyssus & Logitech K120, no other usb devices.

In other forum suggested

Try disabling the C-States but leave EIST on to downclock on idle. Disable the C3/C6/C7 if u have it on your bios and see if the problems resolves.
I will try.

If you can try too, then compare our results.
Thanks.

As a workaround to this, you might want to look at disabling C3/C6 State Support in Advanced CPU Core Features in BIOS as I was having continued crashing with a new system build on Win7 64 when using just the integrated graphics (IB Core i7 3770k on a Z77-UD5H).

Someone thankfully suggested this to me on the Windows forum. Beforehand I was trying memtest, PSU changes to no avail.

Here's the link with the suggestion on page 2.

It worked for me.

....just saw your quote above about the C-States  :-[ so it looks as if your trying along those lines anyway.

Quite often on a new release the power saving states cause problems until the BIOS is upgraded to sort them out. It often takes a while for the BIOS writers to catch up and get everything stabilised.

Same problem here. Computer just freeze. Sometimes not for 1 hour sometimes 3 times in 10 minutes etc...

I also have GA-Z77-D3H
I5 3.3  turbo 3.7
Radeon Hd 5850
Crosair vengeance 2x4 GB
Corsair TX650

Tried everything that Deyura tried and nothing works also.

I forgot to say that Graphic card was working ok on computer before and had no problems. Tried another pack of memory. And have 3 windows installed on Disc, 1 new instlation and it's the same on all of them.
