I'm trying to update from BIOS FF to FH through Q-Flash, but it reports that the FH has incorrect filesize. I've tried to download it several times, but still no luck.

You can wait till the bios has a different update or email gigabyte tech support to see if they are having problems with it. The follow is from a post by DarkMantis.

The first thing to do is go to the Gigabyte wesite and find the "Support and Downloads" section(http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx).

Select your motherboard and revision number which can be found printed on the bottom left corner of the motherboard. Click on the "BIOS" tab. This will take you to the BIOS versions download page. The newest BIOS versions are at the top of the page. Click on your region under the "Download Here" section heading. A dialogue box will then pop up asking what you want to do with this file. Click on "save" and note where you are saving it to.

Take a USB pendrive and make sure it is formatted with a FAT32 file system. If the file ends with .exe run it, or if it is a zip file unzip it, and save the files (usually contains 3 files) that you just expanded to the Boot sector or a folder of your choice on this drive and insert the pendrive into a USB port.

Re-boot.

Press the"End" key as the computer is POSTing and you will be taken into the BIOS flashing utility "Q-Flash". From there just follow the prompts to find your file and DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER under any circumstances. It will look for the pendrive with the file on it and use that to update the BIOS. One thing to note is that the pendrive may show up as a floppy or hard disk instead of a USB drive. Once it has completed you can reboot.

Believe me it is not as difficult as it sounds.

*Important note for P67 chipset users*

The BIOS versions that are still at beta stage or listed as "3TB+ HDD support" will require using the latest downloadable @BIOS program (not the one that came with the motherboard) from the Gigabyte website. If you feel unsure about this the other option is to use the FlashSPI.exe that is included with the BIOS update files.

Hi,

I am having the same issue even with the version FG1. The size of X58AUD3R.FH and X58AUD3R.FG1 is 2M but the X58AUD3R.FF (in running) is 1M.

If we have a look to the screen it says on top:

Flash Type/Size ....... MXIC 25L1605/1606 1M

=> Does it means that the internal flash's size is 1M? If so, I can understand we are unable to upgrade.

I want to upgrade because i'm having trouble with my Sapphire HD 5870 Vapor-x (black screen).

I got an e-mail from GB stating that you have to flash from inside Windows 7.

BIOS: http://www.gigabyte.eu/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#bios

Cool, Did they give a reason for the issue?
Have you try it yet?

It had something to do with the difference in sizes of the firmware. Problem is that I have a hard time installing Windows 7 and getting it stable. I got so far as installing Windows 7 SP1, but after I ran the update and installed close to 70 patches Windows 7 refused to re-start. It's stuck on classpnp.sys

So finally I just gave up the whole board, and I've asked for an RMA. The board is now packed down, awaiting their response. I've already ordered myself a ASUS Sabertooth X58 card, so I'll give that a try.

Hi and welcome.

Please don't give up and change motherboards because this is a good board and once the BIOS has been flashed you will be fine.

Normally the advice autotech has posted would be correct but in this case because the file sizes are different (the new file is larger) QFlash won't work. Yopu can either use FlashSPI or @BIOS. Although it goes against my normal advice I would suggest using @BIOS this once and then revert to using QFlash afterwards.

But both of these are Windows base tools, correct?

And  I still can't understand why only the ICH10R controller allows me RAID0, the other two controllers result in BSoD even before installation of Windows 7 starts.

Had the same problem when I went to update my wifes pc.Said the file size was incorrect.Downloaded @bios and used that as Dark Mantis advised.Went without a hitch apart from the restart after the bios update. It just hung in no ones land so I turned it off and switched back on again.Back in the bios and changed what I needed to and all okay.Prefer to use Qflash though.Just seems more safer.

I had a similar problem a while back. The way I got it to work was disabling "hyperthreading" in the BIOS then  I could update. I know it sounds stupid but it worked

It might be correct that you have to disable hypertreading in your BIOS before. I've had this problem also quite some time ago, but I got it updated afterall. If I remember good there is a help pdf file that you can download with @Bios and I believe it sais you first have to disable the hypertreading. Worth checking the pdf file anyways as it also explains how you use the different tools for it.
