I am having problems with running my two gtx 480's and screen displaying an image. I'm just did an upgrade from a fx-8150 and 990fx motherboard to ga-z77x-ud5hmotherboard and an i5 3570k with an addition to 64Gb micro ssd card. I know all previous components are fully functional. I think the new parts are probably functional as well. My issues only occurs when I install two graphics cards in top and middle slot. I've tested card 1 and 2 individually in both top and middle slots without this problem. Also, even though it doesn't put up an image it will still successfully post with both cards installed and I can hear the windows login sound threw speakers but no image will display on screen, just a black screen. With both cards installed I have tried both DVI ports on both cards and even the DVI port on the motherboard itself with no luck on displaying an image on screen. Also note, I read in manual to use the SATA power port by the SATA ports to add extra power to dual GPU setups and have the SATA power plugged in. What steps do I need to take to troubleshoot this issue?

Hi

Well my first thought would be that it has to do with the power and I see that you have already had that idea as you put the power supply unit at the top of your component list. However I cant say that I have any experience of this BFG HX100W so can't say whether it is any good.

Well I tried replugging the DVI cable into all the ports and now the bottom card will give me video now. When I get into windows the device manager only shows one GTX 480 installed with the other being standard VGA adapter, error code 10 device could not be started. So I tried reinstalling nvidia graphics driver with no luck and then it gives code 38, Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.

Okay, problem solved with a different z77 motherboard the same setup and system is working perfectly now. The gigabyte board has a defect when two gfx cards installed.
