That sounds a bit drastic! Was it an accident ? Trouble is that generally it isn't feasible to repair screen damage as the cost is as much as a new unit.

Don't know what happened really. I keep it in it's cover/stand and both go into a netbook bag made by Samsonite and it is the only thing that goes into the main pocket. The adaptor and other things go into another pocket. It was in there for sometime. Can't remember how long but no more than a 3 days I think. I took it out at work one morning and BOOOM!!! black and white screen, cracks everywhere!

Screen does not have any marks to show impact and there are no scratches anywhere on it. So I'm a bit puzzled.

Maybe there was an inherant fault in the screen to start with. It does sound like something might have been at fault electrically from what you describe.

I take it that they consider it to be user damage then ?

I guess so. I can't prove them wrong so I'll have to pay. I could probably fix it myself I had the LCD panel.

So Gigabyte sent me the credit card auth. which I filled out and selected to have them ship the tablet directly to me by international shipping. Would you believe that they shipped it to Miami anyway? By UPS GROUND!

stupse!!!! Soo disappointed.

The miami address is the CC billing address. So perhaps they can only ship to the billing address.....

The tablet is back in the country but its been at my forwarder for a whole week now. In the customs area for a couple days. The wait is hurting... Why did they send it to Miami.....

I think that parcels in that area are particularly well checked mainly because of the drugs traffic that comes through there from S America. Just hope they don't decide to rip open your computer to see whats inside it.  Shocked

After 11 days in customs. I finally got my S1080 back yesterday and immediately installed Windows 8 Enterprise on it.

Gigabyte changed the outer shell it seems. Looks new again.

Problem is that I can't hear anything.  Speakers are dead. I plugged in some external speakers through the audio jack and they are playing so I know that it is not a Windows 8 driver issue. If I am correct and they put my motherboard into another shell with speakers. Then the speakers in that shell were dead. Or there is some other explanation.

Going to log a ticket today.

 Sad

I found the problem with the speakers.

When they were finished fixing the screen the technician or person who put it back together connected the wrong connectors on the motherboard, so the speakers and the microphone were switched around. Speaker and Mic are working now again. But for some reason the Bluetooth has an error and the camera has stopped.

Hmmm
