Hello,

I recently configured a new build for a friend and just installed the following Gigabyte video card on a Z77X-UD5H motherboard.

GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD Radeon HD 7950
3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16
HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414

I tested the system with the card installed using a DVI connection and had no problems running 24/7 for a week. Friend picked up the system yesterday, got home and setup his system. Within minutes a Blue screen occurs and this happens several times when he is only trying to change colors on the background of his screen. After asking him several questions I come to realize that he is using the HDMI connector on the video card and as soon as he changes to the DVI connector, his problem disappears. I have no HDMI capable monitor, so could not test this.

Would this be a defective HDMI port, firmware problem on the card, or driver issue? I have read elsewhere that others have had problems with HDMI connector as well on this card.

Searched for gigabyte radeon hd 7950 hdmi blue screen

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated before card is RMA'd.

Usually the problems with hdmi is people getting a black border. This is because when you connect hdmi they think you are using a tv so it shrinks the desktop to fit so using hdmi on a monitor gives a border, so in that case you have to go to overscan and reduce the slider to 0, but I don't think that would be to do with this problem.
