I have a challenge for you all.
What would you suggest as a new build I do not do gaming I run office programs and accounting programs and some BBC Iplayer activity.

Currently I have a GA-X58a-Ud3r ver 1.0 MB with Intel I7/930 cpu.
6gB Ram and ASUS 4350Grphics card running two monitors of 1280 x 1024 resolution Currently a 240 GB Hdd is plenty adequate for my need.

I now find I can consider an upgrade but what MB?
I want a Solid state Hdd like the Ocz revo Pcie 240Gb and would not need any Hdd unless it was just storage I have a 250 Gb new unused seagate barracuda that can handle that.
But what I want is speed.
I would even be happy using existing graphics card.
But the real question is what MB what Chip and What Opsys Windows 8 launches soon?
Should I look as some legacy boards & chips for a reasonable price to performance but again what?

Would welcome ideas so I can research as I am lost with the new range of sockets available.

Hi

I am at a loss of your motive for upgrading seeing as you say yopu don't do any heavy duty use like gaming or large graphics manipulation. The system you have got should be more than enough power to do what you want. Maybe just buy a nice new SSD with as large a size as possible, from your post I would suggest a 256GB Crucial M4 or like you mentioned a Revo card. It will make your system seem a lot faster doing just about everything. Possibly even a new graphics card too.

Its because I have the money available now and that I read the X58 system is being stopped and new CPU & socket types are available.
I am looking to buy OCZ Revo SSD Pcie drive unless you suggest anything better, and suspect it will not be seen by current Board and Bios so thought why not star new with new MB and PCIE only 240GB version, and no other hard drives.

It was a competition win and I have Amazon vouchers to spend And best use was to upgrade. and have a new Windows 8 system.

I still get odd hangs or freezes that seem to be related to HD activity. So removing Spinning HDD drives would help well I thought it might help.
