RMA for refund?

RMA for refund?
« on: August 20, 2012, 01:29:38 pm »
Last month I bought a GA-Z68AP-D3 as part of a build. Anyway, after 3 weeks of use it failed to boot or POST last monday. Tried removing all cards, HDD cables etc, still no good. Tried clearing CMOS and removing/replacing the motherboard battery, still the same; it just loops at the start of the boot process, naver beeping or displaying anything on the screen.
I bought a new motherboard from the same retailer, swapped the processor RAM etc over and now the computer works fine (with the new motherboard).

What I'm getting around to asking is: Considering I now have 2 motherboards (one working, one not), can the faulty board be returned for refund or other Gigabyte products to equivalent value? The retailer (Ebuyer) is saying >28days after purchase, not their problem.
Thanks

Hi and welcome.

If you are beyond the retailers 28 days return then you are stuck with two motherboards. It wasn't the correct way of dealing with the problem in the first place.  The manufacturer will do a repair/replacement if you use the proper channels and apply for an RMA.

Why didn't you arrange for the retailer to swap the board out ? or of course ask for help on the forum. I expect we could have cured the issue without the need for buying a second board or an RMA.
