GA-Z68AP-D3 Infinite boot loop

Ok, so I've got this problem. I just bought new motherboard Gigabye GA-Z68AP-D3, 2nd generation intel processor  i3 3.3Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM and 2TB hard drive 32 MB cache SATA 3. I already got power supply ocz 700 watt and Gforce GT 430. And now I have all connected but when I'm trying to turn it on the fun start turning along with power supply's fan and graphic card's fan for a sec or two and trund off after sec or two it turns back on and it doing so until I pull out power cable off. I have read some other forums and it only say that I have to reseat all the components ( which I do) but it doesn't work or I need to pull bios battery out for 10 sec and should do the thing (which I did) and this also doesnt work:( can anyone please help me with that ??

Hi and welcome.

The first thing I would suggest trying is to flash the BIOS to the latest version. Gigabyte has customised the new one for just this problem.

OK. First try an extended clear of the CMOS. Please follow these instructions exactly.


Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.


If that works and you can then access the BIOS try this for doing an update. Download the latest BIOS for your board from the website.

In the BIOS you need to make sure that USB Legacy Storage or something similar is enabled and USB Legacy Devices also.
 
Change the boot sequence to find the USB HDD first and disable the floppy drive altogether.

Make sure that you insert the USB pen drive into one of the main USB ports on the motherboard before booting up.

When in QFlash make sure you set it to Disable the Keep DMI Data on the home page.

You will probably find that the drive will appear as a hard disk drive when in QFlash.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Thanks a lot!:) but, the thing is that I still can't start the computer and get to BIOS, it is still in the boot loop, i did that step with removing the power suplyer cable and holding the power button for few sec (I did it for over a minute) and the removing the battery out from motherboard for over an hour, but this doesn't work:( don't know what else to do...

Sorry, I have to ask.  Do you have the 24 pin cable attached to the motherboard, and the 4 or 8 pin ATX CPU power cable attached to the motherboard?

What is the exact processor model you have?   Will it boot with NOTHING attached except 1 stick of memory and the CPU?  If it does not boot that way, you may have a short or bent CPU socket pins.   To test for shorts, remove the motherboard from the case and OFF the motherboard tray if there is one, and try to start it on a wooden table or cardboard box.

I have exactly the same problem with a i7 3770 and a GA-Z68AP-D3.
My mobo was manufactured in the first week of 2012 (the first two numbers of the serial number are the year, and the next two are the week number).
The Bios updates for the new processors were introduced in February and March 2012, so mine is an old one.
However, Gigabyte UK have been great and I have been able to send it back to them for them to update the Bios for me.
Hopefully it will work ok when I get it back.
