A6 error on MB with new Z77X-UD3H - Help
« on: January 09, 2014, 02:22:21 am »
SO I just replaced by old ASUS MB with a new Z77X-UD3H

I am able to boot back up into windows 8.1 without any issues, as long as I have my monitor plugged into the onboard video, and my ATI 7950 out of the system.

When I put my ATI video card into the system, I get no display on my Monitor, and see a A6 light on the motherboard.  I have removed all ATI drivers from my windows.  Any ideas how I can fix this and use my video card? thanks

Peripherals

Init Display First
Specifes the frst initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI graphics card, PCI Express graphics card, or the onboard graphics.

Auto Lets BIOS automatically configure this setting. (Default)

IGFX Sets the onboard graphics as the first display.

PEG Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display. - Set this as the first boot.

PCI Sets the graphics card on the PCI slot as the first display. & Internal Graphics

Enables or disables the onboard graphics function. (Default: Auto) I would play around with this enabled or disabled.

When my video card is in the pcie x16 slot, monitor stays in standby.
When I move the video card to pcie x8 slot, boots fiine.

Now do I get my card working in pcie x16 slot?

I have a i7-2600K processor. Maybe that doesn't support PCI 3.0 x16 slot?

Going into bios, MIT, and setting PCIE to Gen 2 fixed the issue. I guess I cant run PCIE 3.0 with i7-2600K processor.  After 4 hours of troubleshooting the issue is now fixed

The thing is NO that CPU doesn't support 3.0 cards but it should still run. That is a sandy bridge and you really need a ivory bridge to support that card.

I had a EVGA board one time that I was using to build a computer somebody. I too was using a sandy bridge and have all kinds of problems.

I got a ivory bridge and it was all the bells and whistles came on. Big big difference with the ivory bridge.

If you are near a Micro Center. Check them out they have some great deals on CPU's http://www.microcenter.com/
