How I fixed daily USB-related BSODs with Z77X-UD3H on Windows 7

Every day I was getting BSODs such as these:

USB BUGCODE (most frequent)
BAD POOL CALLER
IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL

And here's how I fixed them:

- Installed VIA USB 3.0 drivers from Gigabyte's website.
- Enabled ErP in BIOS.
- Set computer to "High Performance" and disabled all power-saving features in Windows.

And most importantly:

- Took my highest power-draining USB device off the USB2.0 headers and put it on one of the VIA USB 3.0 headers.

I am able to reproduce the USB BUGCODE BSOD by using various devices which draw too much power from the USB2.0 headers. I think this problem may be in hardware and not software, as I notice newer revisions of the board have an extra 12v molex connector.

Anyway I plan to upgrade to Windows 8 today for mostly non-related reasons.
