Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H .... EZ Memory Questions!....
« on: November 09, 2012, 08:54:21 pm »
Have a Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H motherboard, wanted to get my RAM to16gb, does this board take 8gb RAM sticks or does it only accept a maximum of 4gb RAM sticks? Would like to use 2x8gb instead of 4x4gb. Also, what specific type of memory should I look for, 1600 ram or will 1866 RAM work just as well? I have had good success with GSKILL memory, what model GSKILL have others using this forum had good success using?

Thanks in Advance!

1.4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory (Note 1)
2.Dual channel memory architecture
3.Support for DDR3 1800 (OC)/1666/1333/1066 MHz memory modules (Note 2)

I agree gskill is ok memory shouldnt be a problem. Any model ought to work buy as a kit though if you use all 4 slots buy a 4 stick kit.

I would do 1600 ram as it can use all 4 slots if you use 1866 then you only have the use of two slots and your slots only handle 4 gig per slot.

Thanks autotech, I understand it will support up to 16gb RAM,the question I am digging for is will it take 2  8gb RAM sticks or do I have to use 4 4gb RAM sticks? Sorry if I am missing the answer in your reply...

4 GIG sticks per slot is max. So only way you can use 16 gig is to use all four slots if you only use two slots max you can have is 8 gig.
