Tablet for the missus
« on: October 24, 2012, 06:54:55 pm »
G'Day

Right then, I am looking at getting a 10' tablet for the missus this Christmas, (shhhh don't tell her), the problem is there are so many flavours out there, so what is a good all round tablet, this will be used mainly for surfing the net, watching videos, playing games (4yr Grandson, plus another on the way, girl hopefully), so must have internet connection wireless will do, touch screen naturally, keyboard docking, sound, usb connections.

So hopefully you guys can help.

Ben.

You mentioned USB connections. What are you planning to connect to the tablet?

If not for the USB requirement you can actually buy any of the tablets on sale since they all will do what you require extremely well once they have a docking station option.

Thanks for the reply 'davidbec'.

As for the USB mainly for a micro drive, so she can download photos etc, to share back & forth.

Don't know if I should get "Apple' or 'Android' each have their good points as well as their weaknesses.

If not "Apple" maybe ASUS or "Acer"

Thanks again.

If you approach it from the point of view of getting a tablet with a USB port, you will find your task much much easier especially if you insist on a full sized one. If you do not mind having to use a microUSB to full sized USB adaptor then you may have additional choices.

Thinking of going over to the Darkside & getting the 'Apple iPad' why? you well may ask, quite simple really, most of the family & friends have one.
Will wait till near the end of the year for the bargains to come out, yeah cheapskate me.

Ben.

Thanks.

Yes I noticed this, soooo I convinced my wife I would get her a non "Apple" tablet, in this case a "Leader"  11' which has win7 plus USB & mini HDMI ports.

(had to tell her)

So I have just purchased it & will give it a good run to see how it goes.

Thanks again.
