GA-Z77X-UD5H - problem with system shut down.

Hello guys.

I'm in great need of help. I recently bought a new PC, with a GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard. Everything works just fine except for one thing - every time I try to shut off my PC, the fans and everything still blows, and It seems like the PC is on, rather than off, but the screen is black and in sleep mode. Why is this? I would appreciate if someone skilled here could help me!

I'm running the drivers that came with the motherboard on the CD. I've tried to update BIOS to a newer version from gigabytes own site, but every time I try, an error message pops up telling me that I have to run the installation on a 32 bit or 64 bit windows PC. But it is a 64 bit Windows 7 OS !?

I'm very anxious about this problem, please help me with this

Hi there,

not sure why you are struggling to update the BIOS as it should be pretty straight forward. Don't use @BIOS but instead, use the QFlash utility as this is the easiest and safest method. If you are not sure of how to use QFlash check the FAQ here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html

You can download the latest BIOS for your motherboard from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4139&dl=1#bios for use with QFlash.

Updating the BIOS may solve the shutdown problem so the best advice is to try this first and see if it solves the issue for you.

Hello again.

I managed to update me Bios to F7 via Qflash, but I still have the same problem. Should I try a BETA Bios ?

worth mentioning = My USB ports are still running while my PC is "Off"

I really hope someone more skilled can solve this for me

Did you "Load Optimized Defaults" after BIOS flashing?
Try press clear CMOS button few times and take out battery for 10 min (more will be better).

It sounds to me like your BIOS settings are wrongly made. I think that what is happening is that when you are trying to shut down it is going into sleep mode instead. I take it that you are shutting the system down in the correct way by clicking on the Start button and selecting Shut Down. Make sure that you are selecting the correct option.

Exact same problem here on latest Bios (F14). Windows -> Shut Down -> Display signal goes down but system fans remain.. Have to reset it through case button...
Have seen this problem on some other forums too.

Any insight on what's causing it? I disabled Wake On Lan.. Some people say its the SATA Controller?...

I switched my SSD from the Marvell controller to the intel one, and switched off the marvel controller in the BIOS -> no more shutdown problem.
