660 Ti random black screen

660 Ti random black screen
« on: December 10, 2012, 06:10:17 am »
So for the past few month my card has been randomly (at complete random) making an odd "gggrrrrhhhhdddehd" noise from the speaker or headphone which ever I am using and my monitor goes black and says it is entering "power save mode" (what happens when my monitor goes into standby).
This seems to only happen when I'm playing black ops 2 or battlefield 3 or AC3 (maxed) and it makes them stop responding and I have to crtl alt delete, I can play guild wars 2 perfectly fine
~Its kind of a pain when I don't even know when its going to happen and then all the sudden BAM...

I have tried to switch up the cooling to see if temps were the problem, but nope
I previously had an AMD Card and made sure all of the drivers and registries were deleted
I under clocked, stock speeds, and oc'd lightly
I limited fps on games and lowered settings
I have tried older newer beta drivers
Disabled on-board gfx in BIOS
Contacted gigabyte to see if the problem could be narrowed down, nope
Wiping computer is my last resort...

Does ANYONE know if its my card or games or anything please help D:~~~~~~

This happens on GTX 570, GTX580 and GXT 680 with Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Black Ops 2 and Hitman absolution. Maxed with DX11.

The Default Vcore is too low for DX11 intensive games. This is NOT a temperature problem. Obvious because increasing Vcore actually increases the temperature. But it fixes the problem 100%. They never crashed again after increasing Vcore 25-50 mV with the 580's.

Since the 6xx Series cards have Vcore locked you can't fix it by increasing vcore.

The only solution with the 6xx series cards is to lower the clock speed.

I had to lower my 680's to 1006 Mhz Boost clock to make then stable in these games. I don't know what the clock speed is on the 660 Ti but just lower 50Mhz at a time until it stops crashing the system.

I use MSI afterburner to lower the clocks and I also use a custom Fan profile.
