P67A-UD3-B3 bios upgrade from F4 to F9 with i7-3770k cpu
« on: December 19, 2012, 09:28:25 am »
Hi, I have a queston I haven't been able to find a revelant answer for.

I have a P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard sitting around that I would like to use with an i7-3770k processor. Acording to the cpu support list this processor (ivy bridge) will work, but requires a bios update to the F9 bios. The motherboard currently has the F4 bios installed. My question: can I install the i7-3770k cpu on the motherboard, and then use qflash and a USB drive with the F9 bios to upgrade the bios on first boot?
(bare system with no OS installed.)
Thanks

No,won't work.
Try to lend some Sandy Brigde, just to update BIOS to F9 (but it will not help much,as 3770K will be locked).
Btw,
also got UEFI BIOS U1a and U1b (unlocked) released.

I don't care if the i7 3770k ends up being locked, just as long as it works with the motherboard. Are you saying that I need a Sandy bridge processor installed to do the bios update?
