GA X58A-UD3R problems with ICH10 controller
« on: December 30, 2010, 12:55:55 pm »
Hi,
I just built new PC with this motherboard and since yesterday, this strange problem appears:

I have Windows 7 Pro x64 installed and I have problems with some devices which are probably all connected to ICH10R controller. The problems are:

- The network adapter (Realtek) is totally missing in Device Manager (so I cant connect to network) and Network cntrlr inst listed on POST screen while booting
- Device manager reports problems with first two ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controllers (3A3A and 3A3C) (in Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers) so I cant connect any devices to USB because they are not working
- When I try to shut down the computerfrom Windows, I get BSOD and the computer restarts. I analyzed the dmp files with BlueScreenView and it says that the problem was caused by usbhub.sys. But on another forum, someone who looked in these dmp files said that the BSODs were caused by
AppleCharger.sys
- If I disconnect the mouse (which is USB but I use PS/2 reduction to connect it to PS/2 port) a reconnect it again, it doesnt work (so the PS/2 port doesnt work properly too, probably)

What is strange is that this problem mostly does not appear if I disconnect the PC from power for a while before I turn it on. So this problem mostly appears only if the PC is connected to power when it is turned off. So the temporary solution of this problem is to shut down the PC, unplug it from power, wait for a while then plug it again and turn it on. Mostly, the problem does not appear in this case but I am not sure if it will work still in the future...and I would like to konw where is the problem...
I am not sure if it is a problem with OS...?

My complete HW configuration:

MB: Gigabyte X58A-UDRr rev. 2
CPU: Core i7 950
RAM: 3 x 2 GB Kingston HyperX
System disk: OCZ Agility 2 60 GB, second disk: Seagate Barracude 750G
Graphic card: Sapphire Radeon 5870, 1GB
PSU: Corsair TX650

Thanks for any answers!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I would say that your problems stem from the software utilities that you are using that are supplied free with the motherboard. I would advise removing them and see if that helps. Or even do a complete format and reinstall of the OS and the necessary drivers. Make sure that all the required drivers only are loaded.

Thanks for reply.

I uninstalled ONOFF Charge utiliy and cleane the system with CCleaner, but AplleCharger.sys is still in Windows/drivers directory. Should I just delete this file or do something more?

I think that would be safe enough but just in case I would suggest renaming it first and see if everything works alright without it.
