mSata to speed up extra HDD?

mSata to speed up extra HDD?
« on: January 17, 2013, 03:08:33 pm »
Hi. Im currently using a H77-D3H board and i have a question about its mSata usage.
My OS is installed on a OCZ-Vector 256GB SSD but i have two other internal HDD's for storage. I was wondering if it's possile to buy a cheap mSata and use it to speed up the extra HDD's ONLY?. I can only find various things online that talk about using it to cache the OS drive and im not interested in that since my main OS drive works fine on its own. If anyone can answer this and possibly tell me how to set this up/point me to a guide i would be very grateful. Many thanks  :)

Yes you can set this up easily with the IRST software to cache any mechanical drive.
You cant cache your boot SSD drive with another SSD though unfortunately.

Your best option(unless space is a problem) could be to purchase a SATA 3 32 or 64GB SSD.

You will lose a SATA channel when the mSATA is occupied and it may be limited to SATA 2 speeds(apart from the cost factor).

Hope this helps
