GA-790XTA-UD4 with 112GB OCZ-VERTEX3 ATA Device (SSD) - ssd speeds are bad

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 245: 29 °C
Regor 45nm Technology
RAM: 16.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 527MHz (7-7-7-20)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-790XTA-UD4 (Socket M2): 39 °C
Graphics: 1024MB GeForce GTS 250 (EVGA): 51 °C
Hard Drives:
466GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AADS-00S9B0 ATA Device (SATA)
112GB OCZ-VERTEX3 ATA Device (SSD): 30 °C

 I connected the OCZ SSD to SATA2_0 and set that SATA in the BIOS to AHCI.  I read not to use GSATA.  I left GSATA and SATA4/5 alone (IDE default) and only changed SATA2_0/3 to AHCI.  I changed no other BIOS settings.

I cloned a hdd to a new 112GB OCZ-VERTEX3 ATA Device.

I used Gparted to get the partition correctly aligned. AS SSD tool reports that the drive is aligned correctly.

I fixed the MBR with a windows install disc.

I did not install any special driver at all.

I checked Services in the Registry and the msahci start value is set to 0

Enabled Trim and disdabled Defrag.

I can boot from the OCZ SSD and run the OS.  the issue is that the benchmarks come back half of what I thought they should be.

I feel like I must have missed a BIOS setting or something else with my MOBO.  I've scoured boards for the past couple of days until its all starting to blur.  So, before I try a clean install I wanted to see if anyone had any advice, something I may have missed.

The drive may be SATA III , but the AMD southbridge is the SB 7xx on that board which means SATA II speeds ,this meaning ~ 300Mb per second burst.
If you want more get a board with SATA III chipsets like AMD SB 8xx/9xx SATA III compatible.
But keep in mind FM 2 platform may be a better choice having in mind your configuration.
A FM2 board with a 5600 APU would be better than what you have now allowing you to use the SSD properly.
