New build post, one long beep three short beeps, help!
« on: March 06, 2013, 07:50:10 pm »
I just built a new pc with z77x-ud3h mobo. rev. 1.1
I booted it up and everything worked great, So I installed windows and drivers.
This morning I installed my gpu (Sapphire hd 6970 2gb) and my screen won't display anything, and I get the post error code.

I checked all connecters and soccets, and changed pci rom priority to legecy.
I still have the same problem, any help would be great!

 Sorry,  I forgot. It's actually a 6950 bios flashed to a 6970 so it as 2 6pin power connecters.
The card worked perficly yesterday in my old setup. (Phenom II based rig)

On the old Award BIOS 1 long and 3 short beeps indicated a keyboard error. Not sure what they mean with the AMI BIOS though.

Does your Mobo have a debug LED? if yes, what code is it showing?

Have you tried clearing CMOS? Sometimes this can help, especially if you have added a new piece of hardware as you have done.

Can you boot normally if you switch the BIOS to the backup chip?
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Thanks alot for the reply!

I'm pretty sure the code has to do with graphics as the keyboard has no problems, and like I said before the system worked perci ly before installing the gpu.

I'm gonna try clearing cmos and maybe update bios, And to answer your question I do believe the motherboard has debug led, but I don't really understand it, I'll check it out though.

Thanks alot!

I think I fixed it! All I had to do was go to the original bios on the video card.
Hopefully I can flash it back, lol!

I have to ask this is why would you flash the bios on a video card.

When in the first place you might not be having a problem right.

Like I said all the time is "don't fix what isn't broke".
