UD3H can't see BIOS on 2560x1440 monitor
« on: March 19, 2013, 09:34:22 am »
I have a 27" Yamakasi 2560x1440 monitor. I have it connected to a AMD 7970 through a DVI dual link cable. All this is running on a Z77X-UD3H with an Intel 3570k CPU and 8GB RAM. I can't access the BIOS at all on this monitor. I don't even see the POST splash screen when I power it on, just a blinking cursor in the top left corner, and then straight to the Windows 7 loading screen. If I press DEL at POST, it goes to a solid blue screen and just freezes. No keyboard commands work, I have to hard reset the thing.

I've tried using a 19" 1440x900 monitor and that can show the BIOS (and the splash screen) fine. That is also through DVI (but not dual link) on the same port on the GPU. What could be the problem here? There is one other thread on here detailing the same issue with a monitor of the same resolution. Could this be a BIOS incompatibility with 2560x1440 monitors?

you may check to connect to  Yamakasi 2560x1440 monitor with DVI cable, not dual link cable. then u will know if it is resolution problem or dual link problem. or can you lower the resolution to check.
