Z77X-UD4H: idle bios cpu temp?

Hi,

I've got a question about the Z77 mb. Have an i5-3570K and Corsair H60 cooler (wich did very good job on my i7-920). Before I want to install windows, I go in the BIOS and I notice that the CPU temp runs up, just being idle in the BIOS. It reached 75°C now. Is this normal?? No idea if I can start install windows or that this temp is too high for idle in BIOS?

Personally I think that temp, at idle, is way too high.

Check that you installed the cooler properly and did you remember to replace the thermal paste?

Is the cooler powered up properly? Not used the H60 myself but is the pump/fan running OK?

Yes, I did replace the thermal paste, twice already. I think it is installed propperly but seen the temp I get I am not really sure then :/

Maybe I should try the stock intel cooler and see what that gives for temps.

Ok, I re-applied thermal paste for 3th time. I disabled turbo mode for the moment. This time, it still runs up to 70°C, slower then the before time though. But the H60 fan turns 1800rpm (as before in my last i7 system) and the pump gives value of 690rpm, I think it's pumpin then. In the MIT the core temps give 80°C.
I've to give a try with the stock intel cooler.

I managed to get the temps a good 10°C lower in the BIOS, it kept around 60° CPU & cores. Then I installed windows on a HDD to afterwards can clean erase my SSD to reinstall windows on that. Thing is that I plug in the SSD and eventhough I disable it in the BIOS as boot drive, it will keep booting from the SSD that actually is the windows install of my i7 system ofwich the MB didn't work anymore
Anyways, I have AIDA64 and coretemp wich both give me vallues of CPU: 30°C and cores around 35°C. How can this?!

About the H60, I read on the internet the pump must give vallue of at least 2000rpm and mine only gives 700 à 800rpm. Still I get good temp vallues in AIDA64 and Coretemp.

Can someone tell me how I will set my HDD windows install to MBR and maybe the SSD it boots up with now to not MBR?? Is that possible because I sit on the SSD?

You don't need to use another drive to delete OS off of the SSD. When you install windows at the option where they ask how to install choose the custom.

When you get to the screen that shows your drives. Click on the drive options bottom left corner and on the next screen you can than delete the partition.

After you have installed windows it will auto set which drive to boot from. If you want to boot to another driver you set that in boot option 1

Then boot option 2 you set the next drive you want to boot too. The UEFI is not like the older bios.

Till you get the CPU cooler straighten out I would use the stock cooler. Still 60c is still to hot and once get into windows and playing game it will drive it up.

Hi,

Finally got it up and running. Still updating and installing..
I replaced the H60 cooler with the stock intel cooler and temps are alot better now. Probably the pump that didn't work good anymore.

I thought you have to clean erase a SSD, and you need to do that from another OS disk. I normally had a disk ready for putting OS on but it doens't work anymore. Maybe got damaged together with the MB and pump of cooler when I installed the GFX with Artic cooler?
Anyways, I had to first move data from a data disk to external disk to can make a MBR drive because each time I connected the SSD with the X58-i7 windows install it would boot from there instead my hdd fresh install to can clean erase. After disconnecting the SSD the HHD wouldn't boot anymore so had reinstall several times before the sh*t is finally running again lol Only thing I forgot to install the Marvell drivers prior windows install, I clicked to fast on next and it already started and too late. Have no disks to connect to it at the moment anyways. Hope if I get disks for it I do not have to reinstall windows for it. All that trouble again.

Thanks for the help, going to try send that H60 back as it has 5 years warranty. Still prefer watercooler over air. On my i7 system I first had CM 212+ because reviews read that those coolers nowadays nearly cool as good as watercoolers but I don't understand good how they could state something like that. It was a huge difference on my i7 system. I must say this stock cooler seems good also but just running 3.4Ghz turbo mode turned off. CPU and cores stay under 30° idle.

I haven't format a drive for over ten years when installing OS. I just go in and delete the partition and than let windows do it's thing.

Plus glad you got some of thing straighten out. I don't like the stock coolers and have always used a 2nd party fan & heat sink.

I have two water coolers and thought of trying one of them on my main computer. I get great deals from a guy that does reviews.
