Hi, I just put together a new pc last night with a gigabyte z77-hd3 motherboard and a gigabyte 7970 graphics card, so you'd expect it to work out the box right? Apparently wrong...

On start up with the Gigabyte 7970 installed, the screen will load the mobo start screen (as usual - I can also get access to the system BIOS at this stage), but as soon as it tries to load windows 8, the screen goes black and the computer becomes unresponsive (have to hold the power button down to restart).

The mobo has an integrated graphics card which loads windows fine (I've downloaded and installed all drivers and updates), so it would appear that it is either windows or the graphics card that is the problem.

I've messaged Gigabyte tech support, but am trying here too.

Seems to be more or less the same problem this guy has (http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,12192.0.html), except I have access to an onboard graphics card. Is it possible to change the GPU BIOS when running the display from the internal graphics card (with the 7970 plugged in, but not being used as an output)

Any help?
