Hi.I've just completed my first build, very low budget with the above board and a sempron 145 cpu with windows 8 64 bit,im wanting to try and unlock the second core,is it as simple as just going into the bios and enabling the unlock cpu function or is there a potential for problems to arise after enabling this feature,im a newbie to building and bios features and don't really want to do anything that would leave the pc useless or give me alot of probs with my minimum knowledge of resolving any issues this could cause

Greetings,

It appears you have a good combo from the reviews/articles I'm reading.  As to unlocking the 2nd core, you have to remember that sometimes the second core is locked because it was defective.  Hence, the answer to your question is yes, you mb bios will unlock the 2nd core.  If it is a good core all should be well.  Might read this little bit about testing the unlocked cpu

You have to test and see.
If the unlock is successful you will see that core working ,if not you will either end up with a black screen after applying the setting (to fix this you will CLEAR CMOS) ,either the core will simply disappear from windows randomly or you will see BSOD-s during heavy usage of CPU.

Nothing complicated ,no harm should happen:).
