GA-G41M-Combo DDR3 1333 memory issue
« on: June 06, 2013, 12:16:53 am »
Hello!

I previously used DDR2 800 memory with my GA-G41M-Combo, but i wanted upgrade too DDR3,
so  i bought new pair of Kingston DDR3 1333 memoris ( Model KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G).
I taked off DDR2 stics and installed DDR3 s, but when i turned on my pc there was only peep sirens. Then i also cleared CMOS and tried again but nothing still helped.
Is this memory incompatible or i can do something?

I have Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo (rev.2) with bios FB
CPU E2180 with 2Ghz

It could be the CPU because it only supports 800 memory. You might have to upgrade to a better CPU that supports 1333 memory.

But i heared that memory can run at lower speeds.

Hi Auresolitude,

I find infos:
GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 2.0)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4213#sp

DDR3:
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules

But the cpu are:
FSB Speed    800 MHz

Intel® G41 Express Chipset
(82G41 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub)
http://ark.intel.com/fr/products/36528/82g41-graphics-and-memory-controller-hub
Bus 1333MHz / 1066MHz / 800MHz
Types of memory DDR3-1066 / DDR3-800 / DDR2-800 / DDR2-667
GMCH CLK (333/266/200)

Otherwise:

Have you put the memory into the DDR3_1 Bank memory?
 and the DDR3_1 Bank memory?

See page 5 of manual.

Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before installing
the memory to prevent hardware damage
See page 11 on manual

Have you tried with Only one stick of memory?

Have you this situation?
Raid disk?
Overclocking cpu in bios?
Wake On Lan activated?

If you are not in this situations, have you make a ''Load Optimized Defauts'' in Bios?

That cpu was made back in 2007 and at that time a lot of the 775 boards didn't support DDR3 memory.

Your board was made 2012 and that is why I say it is the CPU that is the problem.

I tried also only 1 stick at time with both sticks also. Still same beeping alarms.
Not have any Raid, and newer tried to put DDR2 and DDR3 simultaneously.
