Info bios update for Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:14:11 pm »
Hi all

i've just ordered a  Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 to use with a FX 8350. On gigabyte motherboard webpage it is written that in order to make FX chips to work i must update the card flashing the bios.

Now my point is .... can i install the FX 8350 on the motherboard, turn the pc on and do the update? the card will boot with the FX8350 installed? I would use teh Q-Flash Utility.

Dont tell me i need to insall another a no-fx cpu  to flash teh bios to the card :/

tnk

If you need to flash bios to run that chip then you will have to get a CPU that is supported by the bios you have now in order to flash it up. One thing you can try cant promise it will work is to flash bios with a usb stick and tell computer to boot from that usb so it flashes it before it boots. I havent had much luck doing it that way and actually messed up a motherboard trying that.

The chip should run.
Just install them and "update" afterwards.
Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

I have done it the way Venzia has mentioned it just came up unsupported cpu in cpu-z. After bios flash it was all ok. On the other note i have a amd2 board and tried the same thing and yes it was gigabyte. Didnt work and i had to send it to gigabyte and they flashed it for me mainly because after i tried it wouldnt stay on longer than 20 seconds. Either way it wont brick the board and if it doesnt work you can always send it in.
