HAL event ID 10 again!
« on: June 22, 2013, 08:25:53 am »
we have the new haswell board and cpu, (Z87M-D3H)

it blue screened with a failure at sleep transition, HAL event ID 10, check for updated firmware. Well, all I see is a beta BIOS update.

The thing is this was happening a year ago to all our system from gigabyte so we started using Asus with no problems. Now we come back to gigabyte and we have this problem happening again.

Can someone give me an explanation as to why this is happening? Otherwise we will go back to building all our systems with Asus boards.

there is only one revision of this board, so it is this board.

the CPU is intel haswell core i5

the PSU is a antec strictly power 450w

no raid and NO overclocking

and as I said, it happens after resuming from sleep, doing nothing, just going to sleep.

RAM is kingston 1333MHz, 2GB X 2 to total of 4GB

we have had this problem on numerous machines one year ago, tried all different RAM brands, Kingston, corsair, A-RAM etc etc. with no success.

OS is win7 64bit

this is a brand new build.

Hi beenie,

About sleep problem...

Intel said have a problem with CPU....

But he exist a new bios:
download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-z87m-d3h_f7d.exe

How to flash a bios:
Use this utilities:
download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_atbios_8series.exe
Disabled Keep Data Info when you flash a bios, during a procedure.... specialy if you use QFlash ....

After Flash a bios, Reboot, return in bios and choose Load Optimize Defaults....
accept a change, reboot....

RE EDIT:

Your problem arrive when you use USB device to wake up from S5, PS/2 only ???
Or on the same time, with a wake on Lan?

What are settings for bios about WOL and wake up by S5.... ?

the problem here is this is a new build with just standard settings.

what do you mean a problem with CPU? I don't think so. Where does it say this?

this problem is with gigabyte boards.

the bios is a BETA; does the bios show a fix for this problem? I did not see any evidence of this in the release info.

who are you?

Hi again,  ;)

In bios, have you choose ''Load optimized Default'' ?

What is your setting in bios for ''sleep''?
S3 , Wake On LAN, eRP,....

yes I did try default BIOS but look, the point is this is a new build, I do not have to change BIOS settings on an Intel or Asus board, why do I have to do it on a gigabyte board.

Gigabyte, are you listening?

when modern computers have S5 level sleep using low power, your advice makes no sense.

I will never use Gigabyte boards again. There is no one to call for support, and online support here and at gigabyte is useless.

If you want a RMA or talk with a Technical Service:

Wait several days... for response.
