GA-EP45C-DS3R compatibility ram upgrade
« on: June 14, 2014, 03:24:34 pm »
Hi,
I have GA-EP45C-DS3R and bios update F2, working fine with DDR3 Dual Channel RAM Corsair Kit 2 x 2GB DDR2 1333MHz XMS3 (CM3X2048-1333C9DHX ,1.60V, 9-9-9-24).
I decided to upgrade my ram to the maximum possible supported by the motherboard.
So,I'm thinking upgrading to RAM Corsair Kit 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz XMS3( CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)
About the memory frequency what do you recommend me: 1600 or 1333 for using with the CPU quad core Q8400,2.66 GHz,FSB 1333 MHz.

It was also a possiblity upgrading to a 16Gb DDR2 4X4Gb dual channels kits, but is not worth it, it's too expansive.

Also, is it necessary, to upgrade my Bios in order to be compatible and what version bios upgrade recommend me?

Thank you!
Kind regards!

I would go to f5 and running at 1600 shouldn't be a problem. If you run at 1333 you can get tighter timings and wouldn't see a difference between 1333 and 1600.

8 gigs of ram is plenty for 99% of users on windows 7 just a few doing auto cad and video editing would use 16 gig.
