I was wondering whether anyone had fitted a sata3 SSD to the GA-MA790XT UD4P motherboard without using an adapter or will it only accept sata2

The SSD should switch to SATA2 which is not bad for a system that was running on a normal HDD.
So even if you can t get the maximum out of the SSD it will be plenty.
