GA Z87X-D3H can't get virtualization technology to work
« on: July 30, 2013, 12:57:33 am »
ok guys,

i've been trying for the past two days to get the virtualization technology working on my new board ga z87x d3h, which support virtualization, vt-d. My cpu is core i5 4670, which support it as well. Updated bios to version F6 and still doesn't work.

Everything in the bios is enabled, running windows 2012 server.

I'm really running out of ideas here...

any clue ?

Did you enable VT function from the BIOS?
most of the mobo disable VT by default.

yeah, it is enabled (by default too).

from the manual:
VT-d (Note)
Enables or disablesIntel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O. (Default: Enabled)

So it should be OK. ;D
It is normal that, if you installed "Hyper V" role from  "Program and Features" of windows server 2012,
the VT information will be gone.
coz your OS is also seen as a virtual machine , so no hardware VT in this virtual windows anymore.

I got tired and finally upgraded for a nice xeon E3-1245 V3 cpu with board.

The windows 2012 is apparently not supported for z87 chipset (based on gigabyte tech support).
