I was hoping this was a FAQ but I didnt see this
Oh my; so I did some searching and I'm thinking I may have short changed myself???
First off I own this motherboard: GA-790XTA-UD4. Okay and it says:
0.1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) (Note 3)
0.1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8) (Note 3)
(The PCIEX16 and PCIEX8 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
And if I were to upgrade my Graphics card; one that interests me says "PCI Express 3.0"
Now someone was trying to put a newer graphics card on an older system so I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not I can use a 3.0 PCI Express Graphics card on a Motherboard that says that "Conform to PCI Express 2.0 Standard"??
Another way is saying....do you think I can put the latest Graphics card....GTX 780 in my current motherboard
Thanks
Otherwise I'm thinking I do need a Motherboard that says "PCI Express 3.0"...in which will be like me upgrading next year; then upgrading my graphics card the following year LOL
