Realtek Audio not working - X79-UD5
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:22:22 pm »
Hi There,

I have re-installed Windows 8 (64 bits) on my computer and installed all the latest drivers that are available on the website but unfortunately my Audio isnt working. In the device manager there is an exclamation mark in front of the High Definition Audio Controller and the error message states:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful
..

I have un-installed and installed the driver several times without luck. I even have the driver uninstalled, restarted the computer, removed all links to realtek in the registry and re-installed but again now luck.

I know the motherboard isnt faulty because the audio was working correctly before with Windows 7. Does anyone have an idea how i can fix this?

The Realtek audio driver I am currently using is :

Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver in English edition)   R2.70   109.91 MB   2012/07/25

Thanks

Hi there,

There is a newer (beta) driver available for the Realtek chip which you can try: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/30530-latest-overclocking-programs-system-info-benchmarking-stability-tools-137.html#post449973 This link will take you to the post made by Stasio over on TweakTown where you can download it.

I haven't tested it myself but it might solve your problem.

HI Absec,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this driver doesn't work either. I have done a little bit more research and it might have something to do with the chip-set driver maybe?

It is weird because when i upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 the sounds card was working without issues. A fresh installation of Windows 8 with all the latest Gigabyte drivers installed doesn't.. Its doing my head in.

Any more suggestions what more I can try?

Thanks in advance.

In the new bios is there a setting for OS as I had to set this to Win 8 for my lan card to run in a new beta version for my board not the same board or issue but similar in nature. It was the OS setting that was new and might not be obvious.

Thanks for all your help guys. I managed to fix it by resetting the BIOS to the defaults. its weird though because I though i cant see any settings that would prevent the audio from working.

Anyhow, its fixed and im happy.

I know this is an old thread.

It has to do with some of the virtualization settings.
