Overheating bridges on 990FXA-UD3
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:53:52 am »
Is anyone else having this problem or had this problem?  When I am looking at the CPUID HW monitor, my TEMPIN1 and TEMPIN2 are reaching near 85 C.  As soon as the temp reaches above 80 degrees, the PC shuts down.  I have only had this mobo for 6 months, but I am reading other people's posts around the internet with the same issue.  I really would like to know what the exact issue is and how I can fix it.  Will Gigabyte resolve this issue for me, or have they for anyone else?  Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have read the post to a friend of mine just rigged a little fan to blow on it. Air flow in your case is very important. His wasnt as bad as yours but it worried him so i helped make a tim bracket and installed it so it blew directly on it.  His reached 65 to 70 while gaming so didnt shut off after we rigged it , it stays about 60 after gaming for a couplke hours.

If your case has really good airflow you shouldnt have that problem. Do you have a side fan in your case blowing in and the back one blowing out?

The temp is reaching 80 degrees within minutes of booting up.  No processes are running.  I have a liquid cooler to my processor, though I never got around to overclocking.  TEMPIN 0 is at normal levels, while TEMPIN1 and TEMPIN2 are reaching 80+.  I have two intake fans and three outgoing fans, plus my side cover has been off during this whole ordeal.

I cleaned out my cooler fans last night, and they were pretty bad.  I was thinking it may have done some damage, so I was going to switch back to my stock heatsink to see if there is any difference.

Do you have any more suggestions that I might try?

You can reseat the NB and use artic silver  about the only other thing you can do other than contact gigabyte support and request a RMA.

The NB clips that hold it in place look like they will break if removed.  And talking to other people, sounds like the bridges are usually seated with thermal pads and not compound.

Get a case that is moving air is the best idea - a fan in an oven does not show results ;)
Best cases are those having a big fan in the side.

My NB temperature currently  is 20C
