Dell PERC H310 RAID Controller - No Boot
« on: December 09, 2013, 07:35:59 pm »
Hi

I have a GA-Z68AP-D3 motherboard i5 processor and I'm trying to use a Dell PERC H310 Raid controller that I've gotten my hands on.

I am using the card in one of the x16 PCI-e slots but the PC fails to even POST and powers back off after a few seconds

If I remove the card the PC boots fine.

Is this RAID Controller even compatible with the board?
 Will updating the BIOS help?

If this controller is in compatible, what do you recommend?

And help or info is greatly appreciated

you may update your bios to check.
if latest bios cannot work with ur card, you may contact gigabyte technical support for this.

Which x16 PCi-e slot. You a x16 & x4 Have you try to run it in the 1st x16 slot and run the on board video to see if it boots.
X299X Aorus Master, i9-9940x-3.30Ghz, 64gb G-Skill DDR4-2400, MSI RTX-3070 8GB, Cooler Master case, Thermal-take PSU 850w, 1-M2-NMVe SSD-512gb, 3-Pny 1TB SSD, 2-WD Raptors 1TB, Win 10 pro 64bit, Asus 35" 144Mhz Monitor.

My understanding from the Dell spec sheet is the card should work in any x8 PCI-e slot

Yer it's in the x16 and onboard graphic is enabled

I have a few of these cards going spare at work so when I get the chance I'm going to swap it with a different one, it could possibly be a faulty card, but doubtful, but I at least need to eliminate the card first.

Cheers

The only reason I said any thing about that this is your x PCI Express x16 slot

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
