Could 2 Motherboards have the same fault ?
« on: December 20, 2013, 09:07:36 pm »
Hardware :

GA-P55A-UD3   Bios F5
Intel i5 750
ATI HD5770    1G DDR3
Memory
Crucial Ballistix  2G  1333MHz 7-7-7-24   1.65V
Antec 650W PSU

Problem was random shutdown and random startup. Nothing is overclocked.
The system shut down after about 5 hours in use, sometimes after a few minutes.
When pressing bower button on case the system would sometimes go into a boot loop
where it would start up for, 0.5 sec, then shut down then power on for 0.5 sec and repeat,
It would never even post so could not access BIOS.
I had to unplug from electric socket, leave for 1 hour then sometimes it would boot ok.

A friend built exact same system, and I tried my memory, CPU, graphics card and PSU in his motherboard
and all seemed well, so I bought a used GA-P55A-UD3 on Ebay,

Things were ok for 1 day (used about 2 or 3 hours).
Now I have random shutdowns, happened after 3 hours, all temperatures and voltages were normal,

This morning my PC had turned on by itself and there was a message on the BIOS screen stating that
it had experienced problems and some hardware may have been overclocked, (though it is not).
I checked memory settings in BIOS and memory timing was set at turbo, I changed this back to standard.
I have experienced two more random shutdowns, one about 5 minutes of use, the other whilst looking through
BIOS pages.

The board from Ebay is guranteed for 30 days, BIOS is version F7 but yesterday I'm sure it said F11.
I need to substitute my PSU, CPU, memory in my friends
machine again, but would similar problems indicate the
same fault on a replacement motherboard, or have I overlooked
something?

Sorry for long post. Thanks in advance.
