GA-G41M Combo DDR3 1333MHz Issue

GA-G41M Combo DDR3 1333MHz Issue
« on: January 14, 2014, 03:14:55 pm »
I have Intel Pentium E6300 2.80GHz Dual core processor. I've noticed it's FSB is 1066MHz.

I've tried to use Kingmax 1333MHz DDR3 memory (2+2) but either/both will just result in the speaker beeping nonstop. I'm not 100% whether the RAM sticks are broken or not, but they should be working fine.

I've tested with DDR2 800MHz and it worked fine.

Is there a way for me to fix the issues so I can use the DDR3 Memory with 1333MHz frequency?

Any kind of support or tips are welcome.

What version board are you running. There are 1.3, 1.4, & 2.0.  It will be over where the Floppy drive would plug in.

If you are running 1.3 there are two bios updates for: Improve memory compatibility

If you are running 1.4 there is no bios update:

If you are running 2.0 there is a bios update for: Adjust DDR over voltage function.

Plus this what they are saying on the spec's on line.

DDR3:

2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory

Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules

DDR2:

2 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory

* Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.

Support for DDR2 1066(O.C.)/800/667 MHz memory modules

Dual channel memory architecture

(Note: Mixed mode, populating DDR2 and DDR3 memory modules simultaneously is not supported. Please refer "Memory Support List" for the latest supported memory speeds and memory modules.)

two days have passed since. We've tried with the same build and without changing absolutely anything. It started working. The MoBo is rev 1.3.

We've then tried with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz (processor that was supposed to be used in the first place, but didn't work) and it booted successfully (also for no reason it started working).

So I suppose everything has been settled and fixed by waiting for two days.

I guess night magic fairies fixed the issue for us because I see no logical explanation.

Thanks for your help though. I hope everything will go smoothly now.
Cheers!
