GAZ87X-OC PCI issue
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:23:52 pm »
Hi Folks,
For my new rig I am using GAZ87X-OC. The mobo is super fine but giving me a road block in PCI.
So came here to reach out my old friends searching for the answer.
I have and MSI GTX 760 HAWK 2GB GDDR5 (GPU) and DWA 556 DLink (Wireless Card for internet).
I use 760 in PCI slot 1 and 556 in PCI slot 3 . If I remove 760 and go with internal graphics the DWA 556 is detected by OS.
The problem is if I put 760 and in BIOS set internal graphic disabled and first graphics as internal graphics the 760 becomes my main GPU but DWA 556 is not detected any more.

I searched a lot in BIOS but could not make it active .... can you guys help .. Please  ::)

Regards,
NicoX.

Go into the bios and in the Bios Feature near the bottom you find that you can change the way you boot your. Try setting some of the settings from UEFI to Legacy.

Thanks folks,
Thanks dmdilks for helping me out.

Here it is what I had done and know what it is solved.
1. Updated the BIOS.
2. placed DWA 556 in slot 4 from top. Hence MSI GTX 760 Hawk is in slot 1 ie PCIE 16X.

It worked :) Awesome :)

But I really did not understand the problem if it is working in Slot 4 then for what reason it was not working in slot 3?
I may be new but can any one take a bit time and explain how PCI works Please  ;D

In the book and I was looking at the bios and not this. If you look at the bottom it will tell why it work. When you were trying that card in the 3.0 slot it wouldn't work. The card is maybe like a 1.0 or 2.0 card. When you put into the 2.0 slot than it work.

Expansion Slots Š 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) * For optimum performance, if only one expansion card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
* The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. It will operate at up to x8 mode when the PCIEX16 is populated.

2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x4 (PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2)
* The PCIEX4_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 and PCIEX8 slots. When it is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode and the PCIEX8 slot will operate at up to x4 mode.

* When installing a x8 or above card in the PCIEX4_1 slot, make sure to set PCIE Slot
Configuration in BIOS Setup to x4. (Refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Peripherals," for more information.)

(The PCIEX16, PCIEX8, and PCIEX4_1 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

1 x PCI Express x1 slot (The PCIEX4_2 and PCIEX1_1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
