Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 motherboard USB 3.0 Issue
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:39:54 pm »
First of all I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1.

So, I formatted my PC, downloaded all updates through Windows Update.
Installed Service Pack 1, then suddenly 2 of my USB 3.0 ports in the back stopped working (2 external hard drives were connected).
The front USB 3.0 port works but the back ones don't.
So I reinstalled the drivers, but that didn't fix it.
I uninstalled the drivers, restarted my PC & it installed the drivers automatically.
Didn't work either, my hard drives don't show up, I disconnected them serveral times but nothing happened.
The Drivers are up 2 date.

Drivers I used:
Installed drivers from my motherboard driver CD.
Downloaded the driver from gigabyte.com
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907#dl

I hope someone has a solution because I couldn't find anything that works yet.

Peace ~

Nothing unusual for a AM3+ Etron based board.Had this board model myself ,Etron USB-s never worked properly.
A lot of this boards have random issues with drivers installed and latest BIOS-es.Some users may experience yellow bangs at start up from time to time ,randomly.
An advice would be to never fiddle with the Etron controller driver once you ve installed it at a clean Windows install. If it works with the older driver let it be .

Reinstall OS ,but install the Etron driver first before any other ,then update windows. In the last few months MIcrosoft released some USB related changes that tend to affect some USB drivers.Maybe not installing those KB-s could help also.

AMD best connectivity for USB 3.0 comes with the build in controllers on the FM2/+ platforms ,this controllers just work.

Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

Aight thanks for the response I got it fixed.
I still had an PCIe USB 3.0 laying around, I connected it to the board started up. Some driver failed to install, the PCIe USB 3.0 didn't work, but suddenly my boards USB 3 ports in the back started working..... something weird's going on! I'm worried that they will fall out one day..
Thanks for your help !
