« on: March 15, 2010, 01:04:57 am »
So my issue is that 4GB of memory is only being used out of a total of 6GB. See attached for images. My bios version is F5.

Win7 64-bit
x58aud3r
ATI Radeon 5770
Core i7 920 @ 2.66
Corsair xms3 6GB 1600
Corsair 650W PSU

Think you may have to enable XMP in the BIOS from what i can remember other x58 users saying.
There's no place like ::1

Yeah I enabled it but it still doesn't work. For some reason I cleared the CMOS by pressing the button and it shows 6GB being fully used, BUT my comp starts crashing/freezing/restarting. I emailed Gigabyte last week and I'm really ticked they haven't replied yet.

What model of Corsair xms3 you are using? There are three xms3 models with different memory timings

TR3X6G1600C9 *    PC3-12800      6GB Kit     9-9-9-24  240pin DIMM
TR3X6G1600C7 *    PC3-12800    6GB Kit    7-7-7-20    240pin DIMM
TR3X6G1600C8 *    PC3-12800    6GB Kit    8-8-8-24    240pin DIMM

Try to manual set memory timings specified for your exact xms3 model, or try to set simplest 9-9-9-24 timings.

And one more question - can you as the owner of the board to confirm or deny the problems with noise and the audio connection to the front panel that I described in my topic?

From newegg Customer Reviews  :(
Quote
Cons: First board I received had the first two RAM slots bad. Neither of those first two would recognize the Mushkin 2ghz RAM I purchased with the board; however, the last 4 slots would all boot the RAM and every stick worked fine. I called gigabyte tech support and was taken back a bit by their tech support. Telling me things as arbitrary as my PSU had gone bad and it needed to be replaced. After talking with the tech support guy for about 10 minutes he gave up and told me to just RMA it. I did just that. Received the new board from newegg the next week and everything works fine.

Just be aware: I have found several forums with people having the exact same problem where the channel A slots will not recognize RAM. If you have the same problem as me that requires a RMA you will see 4.0GB RAM (6.0GB available) when you boot into windows.
