Hi,
I just updated my motherboard BIOS firmware from F12 to U1H. There are some confusions on how to do it. So, I am posting it here as how I do it. It works for me.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3-rev1.3
Update BIOS firmware from F12 to UEFI firmware U1H
Software and USB flash drive:
1. hpflash1 (for making bootable usb)
2. win98boot (for making bootable DOS usb)
3. GA-Z68X-ud3h-b3-u1h firmware (from Gigabyte)
4. One USB flash drive (4 GB or bigger)
Procedure steps:
1. Download three software listed above, extract to hard drive
2. Install hpflash1 program
3. Plug USB flash to USB port and run HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool program (choose the program, right click the mouse, choose option “run as administrator”)
4. In Format options: choose “Quick Format” and choose “Create a DOS startup disk” with option: using DOS system files location at: “choose location of Win98boot folder”, then click “Start”
5. Next, copy the three firmware files (autoexec, FLASHEFI, and Z68XUD3H.U1H) to USB flash drive
6. Keep the USB flash drive connected, restart the computer and enter BIOS by pressing the “Delete” key during start up
7. In BIOS, change boot priority to boot from “USB flash drive” as # 1, then “save and exit”
8. In the reboot, the computer will automatically update Bios firmware from F12 to UEFI firmware version U1H, just wait until it is finished.
9. Remove the USB flash drive, then re-start computer
10. The computer may need to re-install some drivers for different hardwares. It may requires a few re-boot to complete the update drivers process
11. Done! Enjoy new firmware
Note:
- If you have Raid setting for your primary drive, you need to go back to BIOS and enable “Raid” in BIOS setting.
Hope it helps. Thanks.
