Disable throttling on 970A-D3 (rev 3)

Disable throttling on 970A-D3 (rev 3)
« on: November 28, 2013, 02:53:16 am »
Having serious audio dropouts, glitches, clicks and pops since i bought and installed this motherboard. Updated my BIOS to latest one (FD) but that didn't help, in fact it made things worse. Latencymon and other applications point to a CPU throttling problem that should be disabled from BIOS but there is no option for disableing it on BIOS. Help please, i'm a musician and i can't work this way.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

you should be able to disable the CPU core boost and C6 states in BIOS. Check under the MIT section - Advanced CPU Core Features, for the relevant options. If you are using the stock AMD cooler on your system, check the CPU temperature after disabling these as the CPU will usually run hotter.

Also, if you have installed Gigabyte's EasyTune software, remove that as it can cause problems with audio and latency.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hiya, thanks for the help! i've looked for those options insided cpu core features and everywhere else, but they just don't appear, it seems that the BIOS options are very limited!and this is supposed to be the lastest bios update, 2013. This is getting very frustrating.

I don't have the EasyTune software installed either.

Also i've noticed that with this new BIOS i don't get the "4 cores unlocked" message, and if i enable the CPU unlock option the pc just turns off when restarting, sometimes even so soon that i can't get to BIOS settings again to disable it. Overheating, i guess. But that shouldnt be a problem either, so i don't get it.

Disable Advanced power Management in BIOS or Enable HPC if APM is not there.

Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

Those options should be somewhere in there.
Look very careful in the BIOS menu.
The UEFI menu is indeed quite confusing opposed to the classical one ,but some of the options should be there.
