I appreciate the quick response. If I understand correctly, since I am using my SSD as OS boot drive instead of my 2TB 7200RPM HD, there is no need to use EZ Rapid Start. Thanks for clearing that up.
It isn't made to run from a SSD OS. You use it to help speed up a Hard Drive using a SSD for Cache memory.
No you are wrong it is specifically for ssd drives look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxtDM-zviv4
now why does EZ Rapid Start in EZ Setup App not recognize SSD??
He isn't wrong per se. He might not understand the implementation.
Truth be told, if you are using an SSD as a boot drive, you will not see a significant benefit if you use EZ Start. The technology was introduced with 7 gen chipsets just prior to SSD's becoming mainstream. Further, SSD's were smaller and more costly at the time. We saw this, and hybrid disk technology being pushed during this time as the next latest greatest thing for those who were running pattered disks looking to improve boot time performance. The window for this came and went quickly as cost p/mb came down quickly and SSD's became more affordable.
For those who did have SSD's, it was quickly discovered that the performance increases were insignificant when your boot drive was an SSD, and because of the cost and overhead it was never widely adopted. Software manufacturers (back up) were also challenged because it was not possible to create back up images of a system that utilized this technology. Most hardware manufacturers implemented this feature using RAID as the controller operate mode, but the smaller SSD used for EZ or rapid start was always detected as a second (stand alone) disk, even though to the system it was RAID. Well it wasn't true hardware based RAID, it was an offshoot of "software" RAID implemented in what is more in the way of marketing hype or an additional feature. It continues to be offered now, but no one uses it as the cost outweighs any benefit.
