The thing is it doesn't like the other OS installed. Disconnect the drive that has windows 8 on it.
Yes you should be able to dual boot but again I had problems with 8.1 an win 7 on another drive.
I had to redo win 7 and it did the same thing when 8.1 was on the other drive. Windows 8.1 doesn't like to play with the other OS.
